How we work

Translating complex matters into clear stories sounds good, but how do we actually do that? Often, at the start of a project, there is a complex issue without a clear briefing. To get a handle on this, we work according to fixed principles with a flexible approach. We would be happy to explain more about this to you.

Our principles

  1. Clarity First

All our actions are aimed at creating clarity. Whether we are working on a communication strategy, an explanatory animation, or an interactive data visualization, we constantly ask ourselves the same question during the creative process: which choice will lead to a better understanding of the matter for the receiver?

  2. User-Centric

In every project, we put the user at the center. We call this user-centricity, and it guides us throughout the entire project. This means fewer assumptions and loose opinions, but more user validation at set times.

  3. Partner up

We believe in the power of co-creation. You are the expert in the content; we are experts in translating it into crystal-clear stories. That's why we ask you to actively contribute to the project. The extent of the contribution depends on the stage the project is in.

  4. Investigative Design

We work in a phased manner. This forces us to think first and then act. We call this investigative design. Moreover, by breaking a project into smaller pieces, it becomes more manageable.

  5. Think Big, Start Small

Our ambition within projects is large. We set a goal on the horizon and figure out together how to get there. However, we often start small and prefer to test our results with your target audience as soon as possible. This way, we know if we are on the right track and can grow into something bigger.

Sprint-based work

We often work with a sprint approach. This forces us to think first and then execute. Each time we complete a sprint, the scope of the next sprint becomes clear. We work as much as possible in co-creation with you, keeping the lines of communication short and reducing the need to ping-pong back and forth.

Sprint structure

Sprint planning

A sprint starts with thorough planning. Together, we assess which tasks to tackle and what we aim to achieve during the sprint.

Stand-ups

Throughout the sprint, we hold joint stand-ups to check on progress and identify where we need to support each other.

Sprint review

At the end of the sprint, we present the outcomes in a sprint review. Feedback is carried forward into the next sprint.

Sprint retro

We schedule sprint retrospectives at certain intervals to evaluate the project's progress and make adjustments as necessary.

Information design toolkit

To ensure our sprint approach is successful with you, we utilize our Information Design Toolkit. This kit contains design methodologies and carefully compiled canvases to structure the creative process and clearly document the outcomes.
